Emotions. It’s great when we experience positive ones, isn’t it? But not so great when we’re suffering with negative emotions. It’s all part of the human experience though. Our souls came down here to experience the FULL range on offer, even the tough and grimy ones (yeah, thanks for that, Soul. Hee hee). As we approach the New Moon in Scorpio (Saturday Nov 18th at 11:42am here in the UK), and thanks to several other planets in the same sign, we are in EMOTIONAL OVERLOAD right now. Emotions are coming up now to be dealt with. Read on to find out why it is so important to deal with our emotions… As humans, we can often want to resist negative emotions, in favour of trying to hold on to the positive ones. It just feels nicer, doesn’t it? But emotions are what I like to call energy in motion. “Energy in MOTION”. They are designed to move about. They are designed to get US moving, to make us take action! They are signs from our soul, our intuition, our inner knowing. Suppress them, hold them down, ignore them, and we are basically ignoring our inner sat nav, ignoring OURSELVES. Our emotions are like water, they’re meant to flow. We humans find the negative ones tough to deal with, so we try to avoid those. We put a dam up, to keep the negative ones away. The dam is usually started in childhood, when we are less equipped to deal with our emotions. So we put a layer of bricks to keep out the bad feelings, keep them trapped so we don’t feel them. Over the years, we can continue to add a layer of bricks. Slowly but surely building that dam, taller and taller, it keeps us safe from the negative emotions. Sounds pretty helpful, this dam, doesn’t it? But what we didn’t realise when we started building it, this dam also keeps out the positive emotions. All the positive ones and the negative ones blend together, just like water does. They can’t be separated, so the emotions we want to feel are kept away from us too. At first, we are still able to feel joy, love, happiness… but over time, the higher the dam gets, the less we are able to feel them. They slip away from us without us noticing, until one day we can’t feel a thing. Being emotionally numb may not sound so bad. If the negative emotions are really quite scary, you may be happy to forego the positive emotions if it means avoiding the negative. But emotions are persistent. They may be hidden, but those emotions are still there, festering, accumulating, bubbling away behind the dam. Until one day, the dam just can’t hold them back any longer. Perhaps the dam collapses under sheer weight of the emotions being stored. Or perhaps one traumatic event creates a tidal wave, and the dam comes crashing down. All those suppressed feelings flood over you, drowning you. Emotional Overload. Often, it is only when things reach crisis point, that we take notice and deal with our emotions. When faced with such an emergency, we have no control over when we start. It is there, in our faces, we have to stop and deal with it, no matter what else is going on around us. The good news is, we can start dealing with our emotions here and now. Bit by bit. In our own time, at our own pace. We don’t need to wait ‘til the dam gives way. This is what this New Moon is all about. Dealing with those emotions. So what do you do? Acknowledge them. That is the first step. Once you have seen these emotions, admitted they are there, a lot of the “sting” has already gone, because emotions look much scarier when they are hidden away. A fear of the unknown can make things seem worse than they really are. Once you know, that fear goes away. Fearing and suppressing emotions takes up a lot of energy. Acknowledging and freeing emotions will make you feel lighter and give you back some vitality. Sometimes, all we need to really do is acknowledge our emotions, and the problem seems to evaporate. And sometimes, we may need to take some action. “How do I know what to do?” you may ask me… Well, this is the beauty of our emotions. As I said earlier, they are our inner sat nav, messages from our intuition and our Soul. Our Soul always knows what to do. Logically, it may make no sense. What you “know” in your Soul you need to do, may bring up some fears in itself. But if we trust our Soul, and ultimately ourselves, we can never go wrong. I’m going to guess that, given the fact you are reading this now, you are an Old Soul – sensitive and gifted. Gifted Souls tend to have a tough time growing up, experience some really harsh situations, and all the emotions that go with that. Difficult families, traumatic events, illness, you know the kind of thing. You have experienced it for a reason. You came here to learn the harshness of human life...and also how to recover from it. Then, you share what you learned with others. You came here to help. To shine your beautiful Light. We can only shine our Light when we have removed the darkness that covers it. We need to allow our emotions to move. Deal with them. Stop fearing them. We need to allow them to guide us, share their messages with us, heal us. We are never given more than we can handle. Our logical brains may disagree, but our Souls know what they are doing. This Scorpio New Moon is your chance to start looking at your emotions, and start listening more closely to your Soul. Clear that which covers your light, and shine bright. I hope this message brings you some comfort and inspiration. Please share it, if you found it useful – you never know who else may need some encouragement.
